Choose the right plasticizer to make plastic tougher!
The plastic films used in daily life and agricultural production are all polyvinyl chloride films. They are made by adding a certain amount of plasticizer to the polymerized vinyl chloride.
It is necessary to add plasticizer to make plastic film. If it is not added, the film will be very hard. This is because the attraction between the polymers of polyvinyl chloride is very strong, and they are tightly bound to each other and cannot move freely. If plasticizers are added, the attraction between the polymers will be reduced, and the activity will be sensitive, so that the plastic film will become soft.
The more plasticizers are added, the more sensitive the polymer activity is, and the softer the plastic film is. However, plasticizers are volatile. After the film is used for a long time, the plasticizers in it will gradually evaporate, making the activity of the polyvinyl chloride polymer gradually become insensitive, and the plastic film will slowly harden.
Some plasticizers also have a characteristic, that is, they are not cold-resistant. If the temperature is very low, especially in winter, the plasticizer will freeze, which will greatly reduce the activity of the polyvinyl chloride polymer and the plastic film will become hard. At this time, we need to add an auxiliary plasticizer, which is a cold-resistant plasticizer.
In addition, due to the long-chain molecules of polyvinyl chloride, they will break into short chains under the influence of natural forces such as wind, rain and ultraviolet rays in the sun for a long time, so the plastic film will also become hard. This is why other additives need to be added.
